Jr. Music Curator

As we further expand onto new platforms and into new territories, we are looking for a full-time (40 hour/week) Jr. Music Curator to join the XITE Music Team!

Based in Amsterdam, XITE now reaches 100 million households across multiple territories through linear networks, interactive TV apps and on-demand streaming services. The company revolutionised the way audiences experience music videos by allowing viewers to search, like and skip through its entire catalogue, enjoy channels curated by its team of music experts and create their own channel based on a genre, decade, style or mood using its unique Mixer feature. XITE has a full music video catalogue through agreements with all major and top independent music labels and distributors, and works to expand this offering every day.

About the role and the team

The Music Team is a multinational group that collaborates on and is responsible for the overall XITE music strategy. Our day-to-day consists of curating app playlists, scheduling linear & FAST channels and ascribing metadata, such as subgenres and moods, to all music videos. We consider ourselves ‘data-driven’ as we are interpreting performance metrics on a regular basis and incorporating this into our editorial decisions. We also work closely with all internal departments at XITE, such as Software Developers, Marketing and Productions, and external partners such as labels and distributors.

Responsibilities

• Program Channels for our Linear and FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming TV) product and curate Playlists for our personalised interactive app product in a variety of Genres, Moods, Themes, Decades and Seasonality.

• Editorialize music videos with descriptors such as genres, subgenres, moods, visual keywords and more.

• Analysing incoming content for relevancy and quality.

• Work with Software Developers on internal tools and workflows.

• You are knowledgeable and passionate about music, music videos and pop culture.

• You are able to work independently, but thrive in a collaborative team environment.

• You are detail-oriented with good judgement, critical thinking, and a strong capacity for spotting trends.

• You have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word and Excel.

• You’re able to clearly articulate ideas and improvements based on music culture, trends and market research.

• You’re fluent in English, both verbally and written.

• You are living in the Netherlands; we would like to see you at our office 2-3 times a week. (Note: For this position we do not offer a VISA sponsorship).

Some ‘nice-to-haves’

• Previous experience with:

  • TV (or Radio) scheduling software.

  • working with music descriptive metadata.

  • communicating with record labels and distributors.

  • college or university level education in the subject of Music, and/or commensurate experience.

Our hiring process

1. Apply: Apply for a role, and we will contact you.

2. 1st interview: One of our recruiters will contact you, because we’d really like to find out more about you and to see if there is a culture fit between you and XITE. During this interview you can ask all your questions about the company.

3. 2nd interview: will be online with our Director of Music and dive deeper into your motivation, experience and background. 

4. 3rd interview: will be with our Head of Music and Senior Music Curator and will dive deeper into the role, your experience, background and can tell you more about the role and the team. This interview will be in our office. 

5. Final interview with one of our MT members: In this interview you will have a short chat with one of our MT Members who is responsible for the Music Team at XITE. 

6. Reference check: We ask you for 2 references that we can give a call and ask a few questions as a part of our hiring process.

7. Offer: Hopefully with our offer, we can welcome you to the team of XITE!
